Conor McCourt was born and raised during the conflict in the North of Ireland in the historical city of Armagh where St.Patrick built his great stone church in 445AD, making Armagh the ecclesiastical capital also known as the Christian capital of Ireland and centre of Christianity in Ireland. Armagh was also the birthplace of the 11th-century Saint Malachy. His city is so steeped in religious and cultural treasures that the older he gets a new found respect grows for what rests at his door. As a child he was always inquisitive when it came to spiritual matters. His Mum and her friends would often clean the local St.Patrick's Cathedral, so he thought there was no better time or setting to ask questions about God and the unexplained mysteries. His mother would make him polish the seats more rigorously while he avoided the swirling bats above but maybe she was teaching him early on to seek answers in silence. In time, it would prove to be his greatest friend, for stillness and silence was the key for Spirit to reveal Grace upon an inquisitive heart like his. Growing up, he felt what he could best describe as an internal nudge to know more. Somehow, he felt guided from an early age, even through his teenage rebellious years he felt that central drawing. Over the past twenty-five years his spiritual practice has developed through God's Grace and his perseverance to continue his journey despite the many challenges and responsibilities he has in life. This proves that anyone, no matter their personal environment or circumstances, can have a deeper connection and continuous relationship with God.
